Volunteer Application

Without all the volunteers, Arizona Greyhound Rescue would not exist.  Volunteers donate their time, talent, and money so that more retired racing greyhounds can be saved.  Our entire effort, and every single dog saved, comes from volunteers!  If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the application below.  If you would like a paper version of this application, please call 520-886-7411 or request it by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. AGR welcomes young volunteers but please read first. The minimum age is 12, no exceptions. Volunteers ages 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during all volunteer experiences. Volunteers who are ages 16 to 17 must have parental permission.

Fostering Take a greyhound from the kennel into your home and teach it home etiquette. We always need foster guardians as this is a significant contribution to help these dogs move into a permanent home faster.

PetSmart meet and greet (accompany hounds to local pet stores for community exposure to aid adoptions)

Petco meet and greet (accompany hounds to local pet stores for community exposure to aid adoptions)

Transporting Dogs (back and forth to Vet or tabling activities)
Available: Weekdays to Vet (AM)  Weekdays from Vet (PM)

  Adoptions (Call prospective adopters/ screen applications /do home checks/ deliver dogs/ follow up & mentoring)


  Education/Outreach (Show dogs in nursing homes/schools/churches/children’s functions/retirement communities)


  Fundraising (We need people to oversee special events like dog washes or reunions.)


  Public Relations (Work within community to find sponsors and donations. Write news releases; be media savvy with contacts. Seek public service announcements for TV or Radio.


Special Functions
    Santa Claus Photos at PetSmart during December (need Santa, photographer, helpers) - List location

  Assist with dog bathing/grooming new dogs at Marana kennel

  Summer dog washes – wash, dry, trim nails, set up and take down

  Other special events, reunions, art fairs, Arizona Animal Fair
