Tips for Catching a Loose Dog
The worst thing you can do (especially with a loose greyhound) is try to chase her. You don't have a chance of catching her and she will love the new game of outrunning the human.
Best thing to do is make a high-pitched noise or use a squawker - once you get her attention - turn and run in the other direction. While moving away, keep making the noise that you attracted her attention with.
If the dog does get close enough, kneel down, but don't directly face the dog. Turn your body sideways. Looking the dog directly in the face or bending over her is likely to make her bolt.
Talk softly, yawn, no fast or big body movements. Take really smelly yummy bits food with you. If the dogs gets close enough, toss them gently on the ground. While she's eating make an slow, easy motion to grasp the collar.
