Building a No-Kill Community – Friday, May 9 Informative seminar presented by authority Nathan Winograd from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Marriott University Park Ballroom (SE of 2nd Street & Euclid). Visit www.savemoreanimals.org/winograd for ticket information, etc.
Merle’s Door/Book Signing at Clues Unlimited – Friday, May 16 AGR Fundraiser Once again Clues Unlimited Mystery Book Store hosts a book signing to benefit Arizona Greyhound Rescue. Ted Kerasote, wrote Merle’s Door: Lessons from a Freethinking Dog about a deeply touching portrait of a remarkable dog and his relationship with the author. Admission is $10 and delicious Nicaraguan refreshments will be served. Greyhounds are welcome too; 7 p.m.; located in Broadway Village, ˝ block west of Country Club/Broadway; 326-8533.
Saturday, May 17 – Rincon Farmers Market (Spanish Trail) Meet AGR at Rincon Farmers Market on the third Saturday of every month (until it gets too hot) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Michelle from Greyt Escape graciously shares her space with us. Contact Julia to bring your foster or forever dog.
Philanthropy with Phlavor/June 2008 Every June and October, the owners of Pastiche Modern Eatery host the Philanthropy with Phlavor event which gives back to the non-profit community. Go out to lunch or dinner and enjoy a wonderful meal and a great wine list. At the end of your meal you have the opportunity to choose a charity (Hey, what about Arizona Greyhound Rescue?). AGR receives 5 percent of your check before tax and gratuity. It all adds up and is a win-win for everyone. Pastiche is located at 3025 N. Campbell Avenue.
Dog Wash – Sunday, June 8 – Eastside AGR Fundraiser Splish splash, get those doggies a bath! The first of two summer dog wash fundraisers is held in the parking lot at Pantano Animal Clinic, 8333 E. 22nd Street (east of Sarnoff) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All dog breeds welcome. Tell your friends! Dog wash is $10 and nail trim is $10 or $15 for both – such a deal. We need a lot of volunteers to help with set up, prep, washing, drying, nail trim, selling merchandise, payment. If you’re a mature Girl Scout or other teen group – get involved. Pizza and beverages for volunteers.

Reunion – Saturday, October 25 Save the date: Reid Park. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. Committees will be forming soon.
